1. Acceptance of Terms
By installing or using Speech Bubble Subtitles ("the Extension"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not install or use the Extension.
2. Description of Service
Speech Bubble Subtitles is a Chrome browser extension that displays video subtitles as comic-style speech bubbles anchored to detected faces on screen. The Extension operates entirely within your browser and processes all data locally on your device.
3. Free and Premium Tiers
The Extension is available in two tiers:
- Free — includes Dark and Light bubble styles, Fade and Pop animations, support for all 13 streaming platforms, dyslexia-friendly mode, and keyboard shortcuts.
- Premium — includes everything in Free plus all bubble styles, all animations, multi-speaker matching, word-by-word highlight, custom style profiles, and priority support.
4. Subscription Terms
- Premium is available as a monthly subscription ($4.99/month) or an annual subscription ($49.99/year).
- Subscriptions auto-renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled before the renewal date.
- Payments are processed securely by ExtensionPay (powered by Stripe). You can manage your subscription and billing through the ExtensionPay portal accessible from the extension's popup.
- You may cancel your subscription at any time. After cancellation, you will retain Premium access until the end of your current billing period.
5. Refund Policy
Refund requests are handled through ExtensionPay / Stripe. If you are unsatisfied with the Extension, you may request a refund within 7 days of your initial purchase. Subsequent renewal charges are non-refundable unless required by applicable law. To request a refund, contact us at support@speechbubblesubtitles.com.
6. License
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the Extension on Chrome-based browsers for personal, non-commercial use, subject to these Terms.
You may not:
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Extension.
- Modify, adapt, or create derivative works based on the Extension.
- Redistribute, sell, lease, or sublicense the Extension.
- Use the Extension for any purpose that violates applicable law.
- Circumvent or attempt to circumvent the Extension's licensing or payment mechanisms.
7. Prohibited Use
You agree not to use the Extension to:
- Violate the terms of service of any streaming platform.
- Record, redistribute, or download copyrighted video content.
- Interfere with or disrupt the operation of any website or service.
- Engage in any activity that is illegal, harmful, or fraudulent.
8. Intellectual Property
The Extension, including its code, design, features, and documentation, is the intellectual property of Speech Bubble Subtitles. All rights not expressly granted in these Terms are reserved.
9. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Extension is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not warrant that:
- The Extension will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.
- Face detection or speaker matching will be accurate in all circumstances.
- The Extension will be compatible with all websites, videos, or browser configurations.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Speech Bubble Subtitles and its developers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from or related to your use of the Extension, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or interruption of service.
Our total liability for any claim arising under these Terms shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Extension in the 12 months preceding the claim.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Speech Bubble Subtitles and its developers from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the Extension or your violation of these Terms.
12. Termination
- You may stop using the Extension at any time by uninstalling it from your browser.
- We may suspend or terminate your access to Premium features if you violate these Terms or engage in prohibited use.
- Upon termination, your license to use Premium features ends immediately. Free features remain available unless the Extension is uninstalled.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. For material changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify users through the Extension.
14. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which the developer resides, without regard to conflict-of-law provisions.
